Learn to Geocache: Adventure for Everyone!

geocaching

Learn geocaching!

Geocaching is a world-wide treasure hunting sport. Players use GPS coordinates to find hidden containers in neat locations. There are dozens in our area! Some are easy, and some have physical or puzzle challenges.

This class will teach you all about the joys of geocaching. Bring a GPS if you have one.

This no-fee program is open to all ages! No sign up required.

Why Geocache?
•    See how many you can find—the joy is in the hunt!
•    Collect trinkets, travel bugs & geocoins—see where they’ve been!
•    A fun way to exercise.
•    Discover hidden places and history you never would have known about!

How Does Geocaching Work?
•    Players hide containers, large and small, all around the world for others to find. The coordinates to these containers are published at www.geocaching.com.
•    You log onto the website and search for caches in your area. You put the coordinates into your Global Positioning System (GPS).
•    You drive or walk close to the geocache and use your GPS to pinpoint the hidden container…
•    …and hopefully you find it! Containers can be cleverly hidden or camouflaged. Some may have riddles.
•    Don’t take the container! Leave it for others to find. DO trade items in the cache—usually small toys.
