Egg Candling

We’re hatching chicks!
This year's chicken hatching project began during the last week of February.
By now, the eggs in the incubator should be well developed.
Let's candle the eggs and see!

All ages are welcome to join us from 4-5pm as we peer into the eggs.
Bring a powerful flashlight if you can.

Afterwards, stay and do a cute craft with us!

These fertile chicken eggs come from a local farming family, who have generously agreed to share the fun with us. All baby chicks will go home with them, and some will go on to be 4H project stars.

Check out our egg science posters and learn all about the complex process behind hatching.

You could win a jar of candy by betting on your favorite egg-- which one will hatch first??

Eggs will hatch the week before Easter, March 25-30. Check our incubator frequently!

Chicks will be at the library for 2-4 weeks after hatching. Come see them, pet them, and help us name them!
